Weave - Monochromatic

Finally finished a decent sized weave on my new loom.  One problem I encountered, was how the weave tapers...though it works in this design, it was not intentional.  Any ideas how to keep it straight?

Gettin' My Weave On

I love being creative and making things.  The latest inspiration is tapestry weaving.
Guys, I'M SO EXCITED about this!
I got the idea after I bought a bead loom in London on a whim.  After doing some searches on beading, I came across some pretty sweet tapestries and an easy DIY weaving instructional.
I had a ton of left over yarn from my failed knitting attempt and had stocked piled a bunch of drift wood after a storm a year or so ago...finally, I'm getting to put these things to use.  I used a make-shift cardboard loom for the first two but just finished making a legit wood loom...I'm all in!

Art From The Past Year

I tried some Welzie inspired paintings and tinkered around with some paints, pens and even some jewelry over the year.  Here's some of what I've been up to.

If you're interested in purchasing any of these...I have a print shop up on Society6: http://society6.com/ramonarode/prints

Welzie Art

Another trip to Hawaii, another artist to emulate!
Seriously LOVING this artist's work!  He goes by Welzie and uses scrap surfboard fiberglass from Two Crow surfboards to create the sweet pieces.  I came across Two Crow surfboards through this picture on instagram

That lead me to their website and eventually to his.  I was able to check out their studio while in Waialua and get a closer look at his pieces.  I have yet to give this style a go but definitely am looking forward to trying it out soon!

Shakattack!

I just got back from a another sweet week in Hawaii where I saw a tank with Andy Davis work on it.  I  loved it and thought it was so clever and wanted it in my house!  So I came back to our house rental, sat on the Lanai, turned on some Jack and did my best Andy Davis interpretation...here's the result:
One day I hope I can be as clever!
I've already had it enlarged and put it in a frame in my room :)

New Radness

Came across this cool artist on instagram (love it for that), Kevin Butler:
radcarswithradsurfboards
goes by KBUT on instagram if you want to follow.

His work inspired be to invest in a few decent pens and get drawing again.

Copy Cat

(I saw a painting just like this online and decided to make it myself)
