Rainy Summer Saturday

well the weather has sucked royally here in Vancouver this summer and so instead of wallowing in the disappointment of a sunless wet day off in July.... I decided it was time to tackle the bird of paradise painting to complete my set of tropical flowers in a Heather Brown style.

So turn all the lights up bright, open the blinds, turn on the hawaiian radio and get inspired.

This was by far the hardest of the three.  For one thing, trying to draw it on a square canvas was crazy then trying to keep with the simple style of Heather Brown.  There are so many colours in a bird of paradise it was hard to stay away from adding too many colours and overly blending and shading.  I'm happy with the result.  I wont point out the parts I don't like...then maybe nobody else will notice ;)
Just need to add a layer of gloss and it'll be fini!
